Alexander (Sandy) McIlree

My Father Alexander (Sandy) McIlree was born on 31 Jan 1920 at Red Row, Drapersfield, Northern Ireland and died on 29 Dec 1991 in the Mid Ulster Hospital at Magherfelt, Northern Ireland. He was married to Sarah (Sadie) Agnes Watterson in St Lawrences Church, Derryloran Parish, Cookstown, Northern Ireland.

He spent his early life in Cookstown before joining the Army and serving in the Second World War. He served in the Royal Army Service Corps, Royal Artillery and the Sudan Defence Force. He spent most of his service overseas and was stationed in Germany, Belgium, and North Africa.

Alexander (Sandy) McIlree

The latter part of his life was spent in Corby, Northamptonshire, where he lived with his wife and son. After his wife died he moved back to his birthplace in Cookstown where he met up with many old friends and relatives before he passed away in 1991.

Sarah Agnes Mcilree

My Mother Sarah (Sadie) Agnes McIlree (nee Watterson) was born on 22 April 1921 at 29 Drew Street, Belfast, Northern Ireland and died on 29 October 1986 at Corby, Northamptonshire. She was the daughter of Thomas Watterson and Florence Simpson.

The latter part of her life was spent in Corby, Northamptonshire, where she lived with her husband and son. Despite working full time for most of her life she also looked after firstly, her own Mother (Florence), and then her Mother-in-Law (Lizzie) in the later part of their lives until they died.

A generous and kind hearted woman she unfortunately died before she had time to enjoy her retirement
